A magnificent journey allowing you to visit the most extraordinary sites of Laos in the company of a true Southeast Asia specialist (author of several books). Program

Day 1
  • Chiang Rai – Houay Say
  • Pick-up at Chiang Rai Airport.
  • Private vehicle transfer from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong.
  • Thai lunch along the way.
  • Crossing into Laos (customs formalities at the Friendship Bridge).
  • Visit to Fort Carnot, built by the French in 1900 (with a superb panorama over the Mekong).
  • Laotian dinner.
  • Overnight stay in Houay Say (hotel by the Mekong).
Day 2
  • Houay Say – Vieng Phou Kha – Trekking Nam Ha
  • Breakfast.
  • Drive from Houay Say to Vieng Phou Kha.
  • Start of the trek in the jungle and on the high plateaus (moderate walking level).
  • Lunch in the jungle.
  • Dinner and overnight stay with a host family in a very remote Akha, Khamu, or Lahu village (depending on the season).
Day 3
  • Trekking Nam Ha
  • Several stops in ethnic villages, plantations, near waterfalls, etc.
  • Lunch in the jungle.
  • Dinner and overnight stay with a host family in a very remote Akha, Khamu, or Lahu village (depending on the season).
Jour 4
  • Trekking Nam Ha
  • Jungle trekking. Encounters with different tribes living in the area (Akha, Khamu, Hmong, Lahu, etc.).
  • Lunch in the rice fields.
  • Return to Houay Say by vehicle in the late afternoon.
  • Laotian dinnder at Houay Say.
  • Night stay in Houay Say (hotel).
Jour 5
  • Houay Say – Pak Baeng - Mékong. Breakfast.
  • Descent of the Mekong River by traditional Laotian boat from Houay Say to Pak Beng. Departure around 10:00 a.m.
  • Sandwich and fruit lunch on board.
  • Arrive at Pak Baeng at 5 p.m.
  • Tradition Laotian dinner at Pak Beng.
  • Overnight stay in our lodge in Pak Beng with an extraordinary view of the Mekong.
Jour 6
  • Pak Baeng - Luang Prabang - Mékong
  • Breakfast at the Lodge.
  • Boat descent of the Mekong River toward Luang Prabang, the royal capital of Laos (one of the most beautiful cities in Asia!).
  • Departure around 8:30 a.m.. Sandwiches and fruits for lunch during transport.
  • Arrival in Luang Prabang around 4:00 p.m. Traditional Laotian dinner in Luang Prabang.
  • Visit to the very typical Luang Prabang night craft market (where several ethnic groups, including the Hmong, sell their handicrafts).
  • Night at Luang Prabang (colonial villa).
Jour 7
  • Luang Prabang - Temples, Royal palace.
  • Breakfast.
  • Visit to the magnificent temples of Luang Prabang (15th–18th centuries), Mount Phousi overlooking the city (with an incredible panorama of the town and mountains!), and the Royal Palace.
  • Lunch.
  • Visit to the magnificent Tat Kuang Si waterfalls (swimming possible).
  • Laotian dinner in Luang Prabang.
  • Night at Luang Prabang (colonial villa).
Jour 8
  • Luang Prabang - Temples, Palais royal.
  • Early morning wake-up to witness the extraordinary procession of Buddhist monks collecting alms from the faithful (“tak bat”) throughout the old city of Luang Prabang.
  • Breakfast.
  • Visit to the astonishing Pak Ou caves on the left bank of the Mekong, with their thousands of Buddha statues, and the village of Ban Pak Ou (from which we reach the caves by pirogue).
  • Lunch at Luang Prabang.
  • Afternoon free time, relaxation (Laotian massages, stroll through the city, etc.).
  • Open dinner at Luang Prabang
  • Night at Luang Prabang (colonial villa).
Jour 9
  • Day of hiking to discover the Luang Prabang region. Boat trip on the Nam Khan River.
  • Breakfast.
  • Departure for an exceptional day of exploration on foot in the Luang Prabang region (about 12 km of walking – easy level).
  • Crossing of the Nam Khan River, then hike through rice fields, the forest, and the magnificent limestone formations of the area. Visit to the Khamu village of Ban Houay Fai, followed by lunch in the Hmong village of Ban Tinpha.
  • Discovery of local customs, fauna, and flora. Descent of the beautiful Nam Khan River to the Tad Sae waterfall (swimming possible except in the dry season), then return by boat to Luang Prabang.
  • Laotian dinner and overnight stay in Luang Prabang (colonial villa).
Jour 10
  • Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng
  • Breakfast.
  • Visit to Vat Visounarat Monastery and its remarkable watermelon-shaped stupa, and to Vat Aham.
  • Afternoon: High-speed train journey (182 km) from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng.
  • Lunch sandwich during travel.
  • Laotian dinner at Vang Vieng.
  • Night in Vang Vieng (hotel close to Nam Song river).
Jour 11
  • Vang Vieng.
  • Breakfast.
  • Day of exploration in the Vang Vieng region: rice fields, caves, etc. With its karst landscapes, the region offers one of the most beautiful sceneries in Laos!
  • Incredible tubing session (large tractor inner tube) inside a flooded cave.
  • Lunch close the caves.
  • Kayak descent on the Nam Song River. Stunning landscapes.
  • Laotian dinner at Vang Vieng.
  • Night in Vang Vieng (hotel close to Nam Song river).
Jour 12
  • Vang Vieng - Vientiane
  • Breakfast.
  • Trip from Vang Vieng to Vientiane, the capital of Laos (130 km).
  • Lunch in Vientiane.
  • Visit to the capital and the magnificent temples Vat Saket and Vat Phra Keaw, as well as Vat That Luang (the national monument of Laos) and the Patuxai triumphal arch (with a beautiful view over the entire city).
  • Laotian dinner show in Vientiane (traditional dances and music).
  • Night in Vientiane (hotel ou bungalow).
Jour 13
  • Vientiane - Bangkok
  • Breakfast.
  • Taxi transfert to Vientiane airport.
  • Vientiane - Bangkok flight.
  • Lunch and free afternoon in Bangkok (depending on the flight arrival time, which may vary throughout the year).
  • Open dinner in Bangkok.
  • Nuit à Bangkok (hôtel).
Jour 14
  • Bangkok - End of tour.
  • Breakfast.
  • Transportation to the airport.
  • Flight to France (or to another destination such as the beaches of southern Thailand).
  • End of the tour.

Rates

The price of 2 400 euros per person includes:
